This week’s second round of La Liga action included sixteen teams and some surprises. Two Segunda promotion candidates were eliminated after fourth division Ibiza Pitiusas defeated Eibar and third level La Nucia defeated Las Palmas on penalties. Unquestionably, Cacereno’s 2-1 victory over Girona to eliminate them was the biggest surprise.

The Round of 32 of the Copa del Rey will feature Real Madrid versus Cacereo. The game will take place either on January 3rd or January 4th at Caceres’ Estadio Principe Felipe. Madrid will have to take care of business against a Segunda RFEF squad because it will be a one-legged match (the fourth division in Spanish football).
